About Me

I am a Senior Learning Technologist at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

My previous role was as a Technology Enhanced Learning Project manager at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. I have worked as a Learning Technology Developer in the Centre for Innovation in Education at the University of Liverpool and Educational Technologist in the TEL Team at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. I also spent many happy years working within the Academic Enhancement Unit at Liverpool John Moores University.  I completed my MA in History and History of Art (joint Hons) at the University of Glasgow in 2001 and was inspired by the use of web development tools of the course. This led to further study at the University of Paisley where I completed a PG Diploma in Information Technology and Web Design. More recently I have completed my PGCert in Teaching and Learning and is working on a submission for my Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Over the years, Alex has been an active member of a range of technology focussed user groups including being the coordinator of the ALTNWESIG (Association for Learning Technology North West England SIG ) and steering group member of MESLIG (Media Enhanced Learning SIG). He has been an active member of the BYOD4L (Bring Your Own Device for Learning) open online course since 2014. Graduating from participant to member of the organising team in 2016.
